So, our buddy The Listener calls us up and says “Hey, I’m going to be in Brooklyn in April, let’s do a show and let’s do the show in your apartment” after a brief pause and then another brief pause to think how ridiculous it is to actually have to think about accepting an offer like this, we quickly responded, “YES!” So there you have it folks, Deviant Decorum is going to throw you a little show, in our apartment, it’s a loft so don’t worry about standing on couches to make enough room and it’s going to be on April 10th. Yes, it’s a Thursday, but we’re starting it at 8pm. There will be food, beer, a live interactive art wall and of course, Listener Project performing live. Also, as an added bonus Holy Eyes, a group from the Netherlands will be opening. For those of you who haven’t heard of Listener Project and his unique brand of Talk Music check out this link to learn more and hear some tracks. They just finished an amazing run at SXSW to much acclaim and positive press. Trust us, they’re good, really fxcking good. To find out how to get to our humble home for this amazing show email us. So remember, April 10th, 8pm, you, us and Listener Project. This show will also benefit our dear friend who is riding solo from coast to coast on his bicycle to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation through a suggested donation of $5. So email us already and come over for what’s sure to be a great show, with great people and a great cause.

NYC // TWO MILES AN HOUR SO EVERYBODY SEES YOU

Deviant Decorum was out and about and went to a little jamboree worth a mention. Last Friday at the Museum of Natural History in New York, we threw down to the legendary sounds of DJ Jazzy Jeff sans The Fresh Prince. For those of you who remember Jazz only through songs like “Summertime” and getting thrown out of the mansion in Bel-Air by Uncle Phil, he’s been touring the world DJ’ing ever since and producing albums for people like Jill Scott. So back to the party, the music was on fire and having a dance party in the Planetarium of the NYMNH made for a momentous night. Local favorites of the NYC Hip-Hop party scene, The Retro Kids, were in full effect donning their best throwback attire. When Jazzy Jeff closed the night with “Sumertime” all Deviant Decorum could say was “God Damn That DJ Made MY Day.” To peep the pics from this museum party, courtesy of Nicky Digital, click that link right HERE: (more…)

NYC // NUTHIN’ BUT A G’THANG BAAABY // DRE DAY 2008

February 25, 2008

20080218_5763_medium1.jpgWhen a transplant from the WestSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE, resides in the rap song dominated city of Brooklyn, it’s always a rare to get a chance to celebrate the Left Coast Hip-Hop roots. Deviant Decorum was out in full effect for the Dre Day Party at 205 Club on Monday night for an ear full of that good ol’ West Coast gangsta rap. With a plethora of people throwing “W’s” and 40’s of Colt 45 being raised and poured out for the homies I had to click the heels of my dunks together three times and say “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” A surprising amount of West Coast heads were in the building properly cueing the crowds to truly “gangsta” songs with approving OOOOOHHHHHHHH’s and teaching people how to correctly cross their fingers to make a W. I also learned something very important about myself that night, beyond the tidbits of trivia during the $20 Sack Pyramid contest, I learned that I fucking love hipster girls who know the lyrics to Eazy E songs. Fucking love them. Pictures “courtesy of” aka “pulled of the website of” Nicky Digital. To peep some more pics of the party, click that link right HERE: (more…)
